The young Freiburg artist Gretha Heisig deals with the confrontation between image and viewer. As a filmmaker, she is a silent observer behind the camera, trained to read between the lines. The subtext that takes place unspoken and yet inevitably audible between the image and the viewer ultimately led her to her style.

"An image appears in the mind. As fleeting and daring as it may be, its story makes its own way onto the screen."

GRETHA's loud, abstract and lively character motifs are a mixture of spontaneous realism and cubism. Thanks to their large, relief-like surface structure, the motifs allow momentary creation, which is mainly brought to life with acrylic on canvas.

"I want my picture to speak for itself, to enter into a dialogue with the viewer and for everyone to take away what they want."
